Security and Family I
2010-11-02

In today society, family despite the transfer of many of its functions to other entities has an important role in the integration of emotional and spiritual affiliations among members and there is no doubt about its profound impact on forming the persons' character. Family is also a pioneer entity in achieving emotional and mental security. On the other hand, family like any social institution and group has several forms and types, and even if we consider the family only in the nuclear type, we face again wide dispersion in the power structure, training patterns, relationships and interactions, life styles and so on.
But despite this diversity, all families need the security, although they are responsible for some aspects of security. So the question is what kind of security any family needs?
"In disorganized families, existential security has priority, because these families live in insecure places... Disorganized family needs to live without fear and threats of criminals, without anxiety and fear.... Closed family is almost free from the difficulties of disorganized family. But suffer from lack of suitable and desirable levels of welfare. Closed family is engaged in access to amenities and has also preoccupation of how access to facilities. The family concerns and anxieties are both due to deficiency of facilities and rooted in malfunction of amenities. But modern family… has preoccupation of meaning and value of life. Such families need dynamic and signifying security that gives identity. This kind of family doesn't consider itself secure just because of having existential and welfare security and wants to reach wider aspects of security (Navidnia: 2009, 47)".
